the said RufusRufus , on and before the twenty third day of September in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and Eight
at the town of St LouisSt Louis in the District
of St LouisSt Louis and territory of LouisianaLouisiana
being an attorney and commission of Law
authorized and licensed to practice in all
the courts of law in said Territory and the
said George DruillardGeorge Druillard being then there un
der an accusation for the Murder of
our AntoineAntoine Bagenet in consideration
that said RufusRufus would then there under take
the cause of the said GeorgeGeorge as the attorney
and counsel of the said GeorgeGeorge he said
GeorgeGeorge would pay to him said RufusRufus for his
services in that behalf the sum of two hundred dollars on demand towit at
the place and on the day and year afore
said and the said RufusRufus in fact saith that
he then there consented, to become the attorney
and counsel of the said GeorgeGeorge in the
aforesaid prosecution by the United StatesUnited States
against him on the accusation against him for
the murder of the said Baginet as aforesaid
