District aforesaid, on the thirteenth day of July in the year one thousand eight hundred and nine, by
his certain promissory note of that date by him with
his own proper hand writing, marks, or Signature then
and there pal made and subscribed promised
the plaintiffs as follows - on demand I promised
"to pay to Gen William ClarkWilliam Clark , agent for the
