term of Pierre Lecompte commonly called Pierriche Lecompte wherefore he took two packs of beaver fur
the property of them the said plaintiff & the same detained Therefore the said
plaintiff by CarrCarr their attorney complain for that
wheras the said PierrePierre commonly called Pierriche Lecompte at the county of St LouisSt Louis aforesaid and within
the jurisdiction of this court at one certain Nicholas Lecompte insaid county took two packs of beaver skins with the fur on them & one small pack of
the same all of the value of five hundred dollars
the property of them the said plaintiff & unjustly
detained them against gages & pledges until the
sheriff of the said county of St. LouisSt Louis made delivery
thereof & thereupon the said plaintiff say they
are injured five hundred dollars and
therefore they bring suit for
