held in slavery and who is permitted by the
court to sue as a poor person by L Barton
and HenryHenry L. Geyer her attornies
as counsel by the said court complain of
Phobe WhitesidesPhobe Whitesides aliasPruittPruitt of a plea of
trespass - for that the said Phobe on the
first day of January in the year of the Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen
with force and the county aforesaid
unawfully an assault did make in and
upon him the said LewisLewis and then and
there beat bruised and ill-treated him the
said Louis and then and there imprisoned
him the said Louis and kept and de-
tained him in prison without any lawful
cause whatsoever and hath ever since
kept and detained and still doth
keep and detain him in prison against

laws of this territory and other wrongs to
him then and there did against the
