aforesaid were indebted to the said plaintiff in
the further sum of four hundred dollars
for the work & labor care & dilligence of the
said plaintiff, before that time done && performed
by the said Plaintiff in and
about the business of the said Defendants
as this servant or agent in a trading voyage
up the MissouriMissouriRiver & its dependencies
among the Indians and at the special instance
& request of the said Defendents
And being so indebted, they the said Defendants
in consideration thereof afterwards to wit
on the same day & year last aforesaid at the
place & within the jurisdiction aforesaid undertook
& faithfully & to pay
said Plaintiff the said last mentioned
sum of money when they should be there-
unto afterwards requested.

And whereas also the said Defendants, afterwards,
to wit, on the same day & year last
aforesaid at the place & within the jurisdiction
aforesaid in consideration, that the said Plaintiff
at the like special intance & request of the
said Defendants had before that time done
Informed of other his work & labor
care & dilligence in & about the business of
the said Defendants as their servant or agent
in a trading voyage up the MissouriMissouri river
& its dependencies among the Indians and
in them carrying on trade & merchandizing for

them. They the said Defendant, undertook and
then & there faithfully promised the said Plain-
tiff to pay him so much money as he there
for reasonably deserved to have for the
same. When they the said Defendants should
be thereunto afterwards requested. And the said Plaintiff avers that he themfore reasonably
deserved to have of the said Defendants
the further sum of four hundred dollars
to wit at the place & within the jurisdiction
aforesaid whereof the said Defendants afterwards
to wit on the same day & year
last aforesaid there had another - Yet the
said Defendants although after requested&
have not paid to the said Plaintiff the said
several sums of money above
or any part themof, but to pay the same
have hitherto wholly refrained & still do
to the damage of the said Plaintiff
of six hundred dollars and thereof
he brings suitto.
