suit complains of FrancisFrancis Denouin Defendant
in this suit of a plea that he surrender to the
said plaintiff the sum of two thousands dollars
which he owes to unjustly detains from
him: for that whereas the said plaintiff &
the said Defendant, to wit on the thirteenth day of july one thousand eight hundred of sixteen at St LouisSt Louis in the county of St LouisSt Louis
of within the jurisdiction of the court made
their certain And or writing obligatory, duly
executed by the said defendant of the one part
and the said plaintiff of the other part-
sealed with the seals of the said plaintiff
of the said defendant and which said dud
or writing obligatory, being in the possession
of the said Defendant the said plaintiff can-
not produce the same to the said court here
By which said dud or writing obligatory
the said Plaintiff agreed to enter into the service
& employment of the said Defendent as a
trader and to go up the MissouriMissouri river and
its to trade with the indians
for the said defendant, and to continue in
his employment as such trade untill the
