and for as further plea in this behalf
the said Coleman & James say that the said
RalphRalph ought not to have or maintain his action aforesaid ...
them, because they say that at the time of the committing
of the said supposed trespasses, the said RalphRalph
was, & still is a slave, without this that the said
RalphRalph was, at the said time, a free person, as
in by his declaration
of this they put themselves upon the court
