And the said deft, by his attorney comes,
and defends the force & injury when & says for
further plea, in this behalf with leave, of the Court
has obtained that the said plaintiff ought
not to have or maintain her aforesaid action there
of against him the said defendant because he
says that the said plaintiff before & at the time
of the commencement of her suit aforesaid against
him the said defendant, was & still is the slave
of him the said defendent this he the said defendant
is ready to verify, wherefore he says
