To Genrl Clark,
Dear Sir,

I hereby acknowledge a balance
be due from me to you of three hundred and twenty
Dollars as the attached piece of of paper
must draw upon me for it whenever you have occasion
for it, say at twenty or thirty days sight and
add in the bill the damages paid by you on acct
of a protest occasioned by your not knowing when you
drew on the Bank the I had not deposited the
money to your credit.

I wait only for a decision upon my claim
now before the president to put me in funds if
this shall he made soon, you shall have a remittance
by mail but of not as soon as you wish it
on me as above very truly sincerely
