If the Jury finds from the evidence that
BurdBurd the Deft a manufacturer and repairer in copper
used his slave named Lewis ScottLewis Scott in the
business- That in Burds absence from
the state the Establishment was carried on
as tho he were present and that his interest in
it continued and that said LewisLewis remained
there working as before and was by
the person in authority in Burds establishment
sent over to repair copper works in IllinoisIllinois
and that the slave did so go and work
in IllinoisIllinois it is an Introduction of slavery
into IllinoisIllinois- and such as will produce
the freedom of a slave- and the
Jury must find for the plaintiff
