Petition to be allowed to sue as
a poor person.

In consideration of the fact, that said
petitioner, George JohnsonGeorge Johnson , is unable to pay
costs, it is hereby ordered by the undersigned
, sole judge of the St LouisSt Louis Cir
cuit Court, that the said petitioner, GeorgeGeorge Johnson
JohnsonGeorge Johnson , a man of color, be allowed to
sue for the freedom of himself, as a poor
person; and that he have reasonable liberty
to attend his counsel and the Court as
occasion may require; and that he be
not removed out of the jurisdiction of the
Court, and that he be not subjected to
any severity on account of his application or
suit for freedom.
