MarieMarie a Mulatto girl about the age of ten years, that she, the daughter of MargueriteMarguerite a full Negro woman - that the said MarieMarie was held
by a a certain NicholasNicholas Beaugenoux whose slave she was and was by him removed to the Territory of IllinoisIllinois the county of St. Clair where she resided
for the space of a year or upwards with the said NicholasNicholas Beaugenoux as his slave when the said MarieMarie the Mulatto girl aforesaid was by her said master NicholasNicholas Beaugenoux Junior brought over to the Town of St LouisSt Louis and by him sold to a certain Auguste ChouteauAugust Chouteau in whose possession she now is and
by him detained as a slave and further saith not

and from thence hitherto was the lawful
