July Term 1842

SallySally , alias Sarah Jackson, a woman of color by
her attorneys and by leave of the court according of
the statute in such case made by complains of JamesJames O Fraser
OJames O Fraser . FraserJames O Fraser of a plea of Trespass for false imprison-
ment, for that whereas the said defendant, here
tofore to wit on the first day of March in the year eighteen hundred and forty two, with force and
arms at the County aforesaid made an an assault
upon her the said plaintiff and then and there
beat, bruised and ill treated her, and then and
there imprisoned and detained and kept her the
said plaintiff in prison from that time till
the present against the will of the said plain-
tiff and other wrongs to the said plaintiff then
and there did, contrary to law and against
the peace and dignity of and dignity of the state
And the said plaintiff avers that before and
of the time of the committing the grievances
aforesaid, she was and still is a free person
and that the defendant held and still holds
her the said plaintiff in slavery, wherefore
the said plaintiff says that she has been greatly
injured and both sustained damage in the
sum of five hundred dollars and therefore
she brings his suit
