The character of a General Directory of the City of St.
Louis being so well understood, the Author deems it unneces-
sary to remark upon it. He therefore simply states, that the
Work is now before the St. Louis Public, who can readily award
it that patronage to which it is entitled. In the publication of
the Book greater expense has been incurred than upon any
previous work of the kind, consequently, the price has necessa-
rily, to prevent loss, been increased.

The printing was executed by Messrs. Chambers & Khapp ,
Republican Office, with their acknowledged skill; the binding,
in a style, as it were, new in this community, but deserving
encouragement, was by W. T.Knapp, .
