14 [illegible] If the Jury believe from the evidence that that at any time after the 6th day of March 1820. the plaintiff was held in Slavery by the deceased Doctor Emerson, at Fort Snelling, or at any other place in the Territory ceded by France to the United States, under the name of Louisiana, which lies north of 36 degrees & 30 minutes North latitude, not included within the limits of the State of Missouri, and that at the time he was So held in Slavery he was the Property of Said Emerson, then Said Plaintiff is entitled to his freedom — ✓Given
