Know all men by these presents that we C Edmund Labeaume as principal and Henry T. Blow as security are held & firmly bound unto the state of Missouri, in the sum of six hundred dollars, to the payment whereof well & truly to me made we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, administrators and assigns jointly & severally firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals & dated this ninth day of April Eighteen hundred and fifty one.

The Condition of the above obligation is such that whereas a suit has been instituted in the St Louis Circuit Court for freedom in favor of Dred Scott against Irene Emmerson, and the said Dred Scott has been by order of said Court hired out by the Sheriff of Said County to the said C Edmund Labeaume for the Term of one year from this date, or untill the termination of said suit, at the rate of five dollars per month — Now if the said C E Labeaume shall not remove the said Dred Scott out of the jurisdiction of said St Louis Circuit Court — Shall pay to the said Sheriff the said sum of five dollars per month & return the said Dred Scott at the expiration of twelve months from this date or at the termination of said suit then this obligation to be null & void otherwise to remain in full force & virtue |[?]
