Interview with Les Campbell
QUESTION 11
INTERVIEWER:

Um, what, why do you think that was the case? Wh--why, why, why had the teaching fallen?

LES CAMPBELL:

Well, it was my belief that there was a calculated effort on the part of the union teachers, the United Federation of Teachers, un--ah, teachers, members, supporters, to, ah, sabotage the experimental program. And that by creating conditions that suspended formal educational programs, they sought to show the city and the Board of Education that this group of parents running this experimental program didn't know what they were doing and that no education was going on and therefore the project was a failure. And then the, ah, school system, the experimental system would be turned back over to the city and that would be the end of the experiment.
