Interview with Sheriff James Clark
QUESTION 42
INTERVIEWER:

OK, THAT'S GREAT. WE'LL KEEP GOING. AL LINGO WAS ACCUSED OF BEING A TROUBLE MAKER AND A RABBLE-ROUSER, AND THE MAYOR—WHEN THE MAYOR BROUGHT HIM IN—DID HE WORK FOR YOU OR DID HE WORK FOR THE MAYOR?

Sheriff James Clark:

Al Lingo was Director of State Troopers under Governor Wallace. He was a great man in my estimation. He was—a lot of things he did was distorted and was blown out of proportion, but Al Lingo, in my estimation, was a great law enforcement officer, and under the situation that was there, I think he did a great, great job.
