HOW MANY TIMES DID YOU DRIVE THAT ROAD?
Oh, oh you switched gears on me. The, well I made about thirty odd round trips to Louisville, to Detroit, round trips from Clarksville and Greenwood you know back and forth and also to Chicago during that period. In fact, one of the interesting points of history about the food drive was that a prominent young black comedian named Dick Gregory got involved with the movement and it totally changed his life, and the food drive was what was the turning point in his life. Dick Gregory, Harry Belafonte, and Sidney Poitier came to Greenwood and Gregory bought all these turkeys down from Chicago and Dick became quite a politicized person from that experience and became quite involved with SNCC, a little side point.
