Interview with Harold Engstrom
QUESTION 17
INTERVIEWER:

THAT'S VERY STRONG. DID YOU ACTUALLY SEE THEM COMING IN?

Harold Engstrom:

You know, the image of them marching across the Broadway Bridge with that big sign on the side is so vivid in our memories. It's been shown on television so many times. I don't believe I actually saw it, but I almost feel like I was there. Of course, we were aware of their movements. We were told, you know, it was a coordinated effort. They were—they didn't come in to capture us. We, they did not take the school away from us. So they coordinated every move they made after they landed at the airbase, with our people, with our administrators and the principals of the school. So they did not get between us and the students or between us and the teacher. They got between us and the mob.
