Interview with Lawrence Guyot
QUESTION 28
INTERVIEWER:

TELL ME THAT YOU WERE THE CHAIRMAN FIRST.

Lawrence Guyot:

Right. I was the chairman of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party but I could not participate in the Atlantic City delegation because I was in jail in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. I had been arrested for interfering with an officer because I was picketing in front of the Hattiesburg Courthouse for the right of black people to vote.
