All right, Sheriff Hulett, to begin, what role did the Selma-Montgomery march play in organizing you in Lowndes County?
One of the things that happened during this time, SCLC, uh, peoples who worked it for them, Stokely Carmichael, and Bob Mants.
Let's start over again.
OK, some of the things that happened during that time, we had people, we had two organizations coming into our area. SCLC, which had people working here, S--SNCC, which was Stokely Carmichael, Bob Mants, Courtland Cox, and others who also came in. We, during that time had a new beginning, we decided ourselves what group we were going to work with. And the people of this county chose under what, what Stokely Carmichael and his group. And that was organization that we worked with they helped to us to organize and gave us a kind of leadership and the encouragement that we needed to go through with.
