Mayor Daley's accusation that, Martin Luther King was the cause of--

INTERVIEWER:

Can we stop for a second?



ALBERT RABY:

Mayor, Mayor Daley's accusation that, the riots were started by Martin Luther King was absolutely ridiculous. Ah, first, the, the reason Martin decided to go to Northern cities was because he had been acting as a fireman all over the country, where riots had, started, and felt that, that the only way that that could be corrected is to involve himself in trying to re-channel the energies of the Black community into constructive, non-violent, social change. And so, that was his primary purpose, that's the business we were about, and we worked very hard at trying to achieve that.
