Interview with Rev. Frederick Reese
QUESTION 2
INTERVIEWER:

SO THAT COMMITMENT AND SHERIFF JIM CLARK UM, TOUCHED SNCC AND SCLC AND DREW THEM TO SELMA THEN?

Rev. Frederick Reese:

Yes um, because of the local commitment we invited SNCC in '63, and '64 and then at the end of '64, December of '64, because of the dwindling resources of SNCC, uh, toward the commitment for the drive and the demonstration for the right to vote, I as president of the Dallas County Voters League, uh, signed invitation and request to Dr. King and the members of SCLC to use their resources in helping us to keep alive that commitment to gain the right to vote.
