Interview with Dolores Torres
QUESTION 5
INTERVIEWER:
Just describe how those elections worked.
DOLORES TORRES:
We have elections like in any other primary election. Ah, we had, um, trucks going around, ah, we were speaking to people coming into the office. We rode around speaking on a loudspeaker in the streets, we had people campaigning for us. Ah, we made sure that nobody that voted, rather anybody that did vote for us, was, was, was a vo--you know, was a registered voter. We had like a regular election, like a politician has. We knew what the problems were because we lived there, and we felt that with the people's help, that we could make a change.
