Know all men by these presents that we, Jimima BaylefsBayless >
and Israel W. Bartholomews of the city and county of St.
Louis and State of MifsouriMissouri are held and firmly bound to
State of MifsouriMissouri in teh sum of five hundred dollars
good and lawful money the payment whereof
well and truly to be made, we hereby firmly bind ourselves our
heirs executors and administrators.

The condition of the above obligation is such that
whereas the said Jimima BaylefsBayless a free person of color of the
city of Saint Louis and State of MifsouriMissouri aforesaid has this
day obtained a license from the county court of Saint
Louis County + State of MifsouriMissouri under and in persuance
of an act entitled "An act the more effectually to pre-
vent free persons of color from entering the state of MifsouriMissouri ,"
approved February twenty-third A.D. 1843, Now therefore
if the said Jimima BaylefsBayless shall continue of good moral char-
acter and behavior, and to support herself by lawful em
ployment these this obligation to be void and mull other-
wise to remain and be of full force and virtue.

As which our hands and seals this second day of May A.D. 1843_
