Know all men by these presents that I Mary
Nicholas as principal and James Walters
are held and firmly bound unto the state of
MifsouriMissouri in the first and full sum of two hund-
dred dollars for the true payment of which
and sum of money we bind ourselves our
and each of our heirs executors administrators
and afsignsassigns jointly + severally firmly by
these pursuits, sealed with our seals and dated this second day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three; The condition of this above
obligation is such whereas The said Mary
Nicholas has this day obtained from the
County Court of St. Louis Court to remain
in this state under the provisions of an
act of the General AfsemblyAssembly of the
State of MifsouriMissouri entitled "An Act more
effectually to prevent free persons of
color from coming into this state and
for other purposes Now of the said
Mary shall be of good behavior
during the continuance of said
License then this obligation to be void
