Know all men by these presents that we Robert Castle as principal
and J.J. Clark as security both of the County of Saint Louis and State of
MifsouriMissouri are held and firmly bound unto the State of MifsouriMissouri in the just
and full sum of two hundred dollars for the payment of which sum well
and truly to be made we bind ourselves our heirs and legal representatives

Witness our hands and seals at Saint Louis this fourth day of May in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and forty three._

The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the
County Court of the County of St. Louis has granted to the said Robert Castle
as license to reside in the State of MifsouriMissouri under the provisions of an
act entitled "an act mroe effectually to prevent free persons of color
from entering into this State and for other purposes" approved Feb. 23, 1843 _ Now if the said Robert Castle shall be of good behavior
as required by said act then this bond to be void and of no effect other-
wise to remain in full force and virtue
