Free Negro Bond for Sukey

Know all men by these presents that we Sukey, _
_ as principal and James Smith as security are
held and firmly bound in the just and full sum of two
hundred dollars each to the State of Missouri, the payment
whereof well and truly to be made we bind ourselves our
heirs executors and administrators firmly by these presents;

The condition of this obligation is such that
whereas the said Sukey_ has this day obtained
from the Honorable the County Court of S Louis County a
license to reside and remain in the State of Mis-
souri as a free person of color under the provisions
of an act entitedl" An act to prevent more effectually
free persons of color from entering into this state and for
other purposes" approved 23rd February 1843.

Now if the said Sukey_ shall be
of good behavior during the continuance of said license
then the above obligation is void otherwise to remain
in full force and virtue.

In WitnefsWitnefs whereof we have hereunto set
our hands and seals at the City of St Louis in
the County of St Louis and State of Missouri this
Sixth day of December AD 1845
