Know all men by these presents that we
Parish Evans a free person of color of the County
of Saint Louis and State of Missouri as prin-
cipal and Ino H Watson & Diogenes Witmore as
securities of said County and State as
securities are held and firmly bound  [ gap: ;reason: damage ] 
the State of Missouri in the just and full
sum of One Thousand dollars for the
payment of which sum well and truly
to be made we bind ourselves, our heirs
and legal representatives

this 8th day of December in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and forty six.

the Condition of the above obliga-
tion is such that whereas the County Court
of the County of Saint Louis did on the
8th day of December Eighteen Hundred and forty six grant to the said Parish
Evans a license to reside in the State
of Missouri under the provisions of an
act entitled an act more effectually to
prevent free persons of color from entering
into this State and for other purposes
approved Feb. 23d 1843_ Now if the said Parish
Evans shall be of good behavior as required
by said act then this bond to be void, othe-
rwise to remain in full force and virtue
