Know all men by these presents that I Joseph
Cooke___as principal and Ralph Bird + Valentin L Pearse
as security are held and firmly bound, unto
the State of MifsouriMissouri in the final sum of
four hundred dollars for the payment
of which sum well and truly to be made
the said Joseph Cooke as principal
and the said Ralph Bird + V. I. Pears as security hereby
bind themselves, their heirs, executors and
administrators, firmly by these presents, sealed
with their seals and dated this third day
of May A.D. 1843 ___________. Now

the condition of this Bond is such that whereas
the County Court of Saint Louis County hath
granted to the above bounder Joseph Cooke
a license to reside and remain in the State
of MifsouriMissouri according to the Statute in such
case make and juorieded______. Now if
the said Joseph Cooke shall be of good behaviour while he remain in said State,
then this bond to be void, otherwise to __
remain in full force
