Know all men by these presents that
we Henry Tate as principal and Oliver
Bennett as security, of the county of St.
Louis State Missouri are held and
firmly bound into the State of Misouri
in the Sum of Two Hundred Dollars
to pair by us to the said State of
Missouri to which payment well and
truly to be made. We do hereby bind
ourselves our heir, executors, administrators
and each and every on of  [ gap:  ]  for truly
by these presents sealed with our seals
and dated the third day of May A.D.
Eighteen Hundred and forty three

The condition of this obligation is
such, that whereas the County Court
of Saint Louis County has this day
granted to the said Henry Tate a
free colored man, a license to reside
within this state; Now therefore if
the said Henry Tate, during his resi
dence in the said state of Missouri
shall well and truly conduct himself in
an honest, moral sober and upright man
ner as a good citizen, orderly and be of
good behavior, then this oligation to be
void and of no effect, otherwise to
remain in full force and virtue in law.
