Know all men by these presents that we Herman
Hamilton as principal & William F. as se-
curity are held and firmly bound in the just sum
of two hundred dollars to the State of MifsouriMissouri ,lb/ the payment whereof well and truly to be made
we bind ourselves our heirs executors & administrators
bound firmly by these presents

The condition of this obligation
is such that whereas the said Herman Hamilton
has this day obtained from the County Court of
St Louis County a license to remain in the state
as a free person of color under the provision
of an act entitled an act to prevent more ef-
fectually to prevent free persons of color from
entering in this state and for other purposes ap-
proved 23 Feby. 1843 Now if the said Herman
Hamilton shall be of good behaviour during the
continuance of said license then the above ob-
ligation is void otherwise of full force and virtue. Signed & sealed by us this fourteenth day of Nov. 1843
