Know all men by these presents that we James Edwards, as
principal and John P Moore as Security, acknowledge ourselves
to owe and be indebted unto the State of MifsouriMissouri in the penal
sum of Six hundred dollars, for the payment whereof we bind ourselves,
our heirs, executors and administrators _

The condition of the above obligation is such that, whereas the County Court
of Saint Louis County in said State, have this day granted unto the said
James Edwards, a free negro, a license to remain in said State_
now is the said James Edwards shall be of good behavior_ as
is provided in the Act of the said State pafsedpassed at the sefsionsession of the
legislation for 1843_3_ and appoved on 23 Feb. 1843_ then this
obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and
virtue.
