Know all men by these presents that I Rebecca Brotherton of the City
and County of St Louis and State of MifsouriMissouri in consideration of Four
Hundred dollars to me in hand paid the receipt of which sum I hereby
acknowledge do hereby Emancipate and set free for ever from servitude
my Slave Daniel aged about Forty Years.
In WitnefsWitness whereof I have
hereto set my hand and seal at the City of St. Louis this Twenty fifth
day of November AD. eighteen hundred and forty six

personally appeared M. Brotherton and Thos G. Settle two credible
witnefseswitnesses who being examined upon oath prove the execution of the
within Deed of Emancipation from Rebecca Brotherton to Dan-
-iel which said acknowledgment is entered on the Record of the
Proceedings of the Court of that day.
