To all whom it may concern, be it hereby
made known, that I Thomas J. Mason of the County
of St. Louis and State of MifsouriMissouri , for divers good causes
and considerations me thereunto moving, and also in further
consideration of one dollar current money to me in hand,
the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have released
from Slavery, liberated and manumitted and set free,
and by these presents do hereby release from Slavery,
liberate, manumit and set free my negro Boy, named
Martin Griffin, being of the age of thirty five Years,
and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood
and maintenance; and him the said Negro Boy named
Martin Griffin, I do declare to be henceforth free, man-
-umitted and discharged from all manner of Servitude
and Service to me, my executors or administrators for-
-ever. In WitnefsWitness Whereof I have hereunto set
my hand and seal this 29th April Eighteen hundred and forty six.

Be it remembered that on this Thirtieth day of April Eighteen hundred and forty six, in open
Court personally appeared Robert M. Hanna and Jacob
Cooper two credible witnefseswitnesses who being duly examined
upon oath prove the execution of the within Deed of
Emancipation from Thomas J. Mason to Martin Grif-
-fin, which said proof of acknowledgement is entered
of the Record of the Court of that day. Seal In
