Know all Men by These Presents, That we Gustavus Brown
as prinipal, and Janice E Woodruff and Marcus P Woodruff as securities are
held and firmly bound unto the State of Missouri
in the just and
full sum of one thousand Dollars
to the payment whereof well and truly to be made we
bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators
firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals, and
dated at St Louis this day of
December 1846

The condition of the above Obligation is such, that whereas, the County Court of the county
of Saint Louis did, on the day of December in the year Eighteen hundred and forty six, grant to the
said Gustavus Brown, (a free man of color) to reside
in the state of Missouri
Now if the said Gustavous
Brown shall be of good behavior and in all respects depart hemself as an orderly & respectable citizen then
the above obligation to be void, otherwise to remain
in full force and virtue
