Know all men by these presents, that we David Copeland
and Elijah Heyden of Saint Louis County on hold and firmly bound
unto the State of MifsouriMissouri in the sum of four hundred dollars_
that is to say, the said David Copeland in the sum of two hundred
dollars & the said Elijah Heyden in the sum of two hundred
dollars_ The Condition fo the above obligation in such that whereas
the above named David Copeland a man of Color, has this day
obtained from the County Court of the County of Staint Louis a license
to reside in the State of MifsouriMissouri _ Now the Conditions of this
Bond is such, that of the said David Copeland shall be of good
behavior, then this obligation to be void and otherwise to remain
in full force and virtue

Given under our Hands & seals at St. Louis this 2nd day of May 1843.
