Know all men by these presents that we Richard
Marshall and Saml N Allen of the county of St. Louis
State of MifsouriMissouri , are held and firmly bound unto the
State of MifsouriMissouri in the sum of Two hundred Dollars, to
be well and truly paid to the said State of MifsouriMissouri
to which payment well and truly to be made, we do
bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators + each and every of them firmly by these presents_

Sealed with our seals and dated the second day of May A.D. Eighteen hundred + forty-three

The condition of this obligation is such, that
whereas the County Court of St Louis County his this
day granted to the said Richard Marshall a
free colored man, a license to reside within this
state_ Now therefore_ if the said Richard Marchall
during his residence within the state of MifsouriMissouri shall
well and truly deport and conduct himself in an
honest, moral, sober and upright manner, as a good
and orderly citizen of said state then this obligation
to be void otherwise to remain in full force and
effect in law
