Know all men by these presents that we
James McCall as principal and Chas. W Schaumburg
as security are held and firmly bound unto the
State of MifsouriMissouri in the just and full sum of
Two hundred Dollars for the true payment of
which said sum of money, we bind ourselves, our
heirs, our executors, administrators and afsignassign [ gap: ;reason: damage ]
jointly and severally by these presents; sealed
with our seals and dated this Fourt day of May
in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and
forty three_ The condition of this
obligation is such that whereas James McCall
_ has this day obtained a license from
the County Court of St Louis County, to remain
in this State as a free person of color, under
the provisions of an act entitled "an act
more effectually to prevent free person [ gap: ;reason: damage ]
of color from entering into this State and
for other purposes" [ Aproved ]23, Feb. 1843
Now the condition of this bond is that
if the said James McCall shall be of
good behavior during the continuance
of said license then the above obligation
to be void otherwise to remain in full
force and virtue
