Know all men by these presents that we, Julius Hawkins
as principal and John P. Moore as security are held
and firmly bound unto the State of Missouri in the Just
and full sum of Five HundredTwo hundrd Dollars cash for the true
payment of which sum of money we bind ourselves
our heirs, our Executors, administrators and assigns
justly and severally, by these presents, sealed wit
our seals and ated thisTwentieth - day of June, in the Year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and forty three. The condition of this obligation is such,
that whereas Julius Hawkins has this day obtained
from the County Court of St. Louis County, a license
to remain in this State as a free person of color,
under the provisions of an act, Entitled [ and ] act
more effectually to prevent free persons of color
from entering into the State and for other purposes
approved 23d February 1843.

Now the Condition of this Bond is such that
if the said Julius Hawkins shall be of good behaviour
during the continuance of said license, then the
above obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in
full force and virtue
