Know all men by these presents that
we Elizabeth Bailey & Thomas F Anderson of
the City of St Louis & State of Missouri are held
& firmly bound by these presents to the State
of Missouri in the Sum of five hundred dollars
for the just & true payment of which we bind
ourselves our executors administrators & afsignsassigns

The condition of the above obligation
is such that whereas the said Elizabeth Baily
a free woman of Colour of the City of St Louis
& State Missouri has this day obtained a license
from the County court of the County of St Louis
State of Missouri under an Act entitled an act
the more effectually to prevent free persons of
Colour from entering this State & other pur-
poses Approved February twenty third in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & forty three Now therefor if the
said Elizabeth Baily shall continue of good
Moral Character & behaviour & to support
herself by lawful employment then this
obligation to be void otherwise to remain
in full force & virtue As witnefswitness our hands
and seals day of May 1843
