Know all men by these presents that we
Pauline Hanner as principal and Charles G
Chesley as security are held and firmly bound unto
the State of MifsouriMissouri as follows the said Pauline
Hanner in the sum of two hundred dollars &
the said Charles G. Chesley in the sum of two
hundred dollars for the payment thereof
well & truly to be made we bind ourselves
our heirs, executors & administrators
firmly by these presents. Sealed with our
seals & dated at St Louis this sixteenth day of December A.D. 1844_

The above obligation is such that whereas
on the sixteenth day of December eighteen hundred & forty four the County Court of
St Louis County hath granted a license to the said Pauline Hanner a free negro
woman to remain in the State of MifsouriMissouri
in accordance with an act entitled "An
act more effectually to prevent free persons
of color from entering into the State & for other
purposes" Approved Feb 23d 1843

Now if the above bounden Pauline Hanner shall well demean & conduct her-
-self & be of good behaviour during the
continuance of the said license in the
State of MifsouriMissouri then this obligation to be
void else to remain in full force and
