Know all men by these presents that we Patey
Jones as Principal and John Shores as security
are held and firmly bound unto the State
of MifsouriMissouri in the sum of one Thousand
dollars for the true and faithful payment
of which we hereby Bind ourselves our heirs
executors and Administrators firmly by
these rpesents as WitnefsWitness our hands and Seal
this fourth day of December AD Eighteen
hundred and Forty six
The condition of the above named
obligation is such that whereas the above
named Patey Jones has applied to the
County Court of St. Louis County being
a Free Negro Woman for a Licence to
reside within the said State of MifsouriMissouri
Now if the said Patey Jones shall
be of good [ behavyour ] then this obli
gation shall be void otherwise to
remain in full force and effect
