Know all men by these presents that we as principal and as security are held & firmly bound unto the state of , in the sum of six hunccrd dollars, to the payment whereof well & truly to me made we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, administrators and assigns jointly & severally firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals & dated this ninth day of April Eighteen hunccrd and fifty one.

The Condition of the above obligation is such that whereas a suit has been instituted in the Circuit CourtSt Louis Circuit Court for freedom in favor of Dred ScottDred Scott against IreneIrene Emmerson, and the said Dred ScottDred Scott has been by order of said Court hired out by the Sheriff of Said County to the said for the Term of one year from this date, or untill the termination of said suit, at the rate of five dollars per month — Now if the said shall not remove the said Dred ScottDred Scott out of the jurisdiction of said Louis Circuit CourtCircuit Court Shall pay to the said Sheriff the said sum of five dollars per month & return the said Dred ScottDred Scott at the expiration of twelve months from this date or at the termination of said suit then this obligation to be null & void otherwise to remain in full force & virtue |[?]
